Pakistani handicrafts
Pakistan is currently a developing country and there is still a ways to go in regards to the country�s infrastructure and mechanization; especially in the rural areas and therefore most work is still done by hand. People are very skilled in making carpets, rugs and other items by hand. Pakistani handicrafts are very famous because of their designs and uniqueness.
The pottery industry is very big in rural areas of Pakistan. They make thousands of things like vases, pots, decoration items etc. which are further glazed and decorated by hands using colors and other items.
Wooden crafts are also very famous in Pakistan. Huge beds, sofa sets, windows and doors are made of wood using simple hammer and ordinary machines. Sialkot is the most famous city of Pakistan for woodwork.
The women in Sindh province make beautiful designs on clothes. The most famous thing made by Sindhi women is Ajrak, it is basically a hand made shawl with different designs. The women in Balochistan make designs on clothes and the specialty of their design is the small mirror pieces which they beautifully place between the designs.
The buses of Pakistan (especially Karachi city) are very famous because they are decorated by special stickers placed in an order (known as Chamak Patti). A few skilled chamak patti workers were invited to decorate a tram in Melbourne, Australia during the last commonwealth games and it was liked by just about everyone in Australia.
